Text Box: Are You Eligible?
We are recruiting American Indian men and women who live in southwestern Oklahoma, who are under the care of the Lawton Indian Health Service Unit (including Indian Clinics in Anadarko and Carnegie) and who are at  high risk of CVD.  The eligibility criteria are:
American Indian 
Age 30-75 years 
BMI higher than 25
Have any 3 of the following 5 health conditions:
Abdominal obesity: waist circumference more than 102 cm (more than 40 inches) for men, more than 88 cm (more than 35 inches) for women; 
Triglycerides greater than or equal to150 mg/dl;
HDL-C less than 40 mg/dl for men, and less than 50 mg/dl for women;
SBP greater than or equal to 130 or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) greater than or equal to 85 mmHg;
Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) greater than or equal to 100 mg/dl.
 
These criteria were determined with input from the community. Most community members agreed that the study participants should be representative of the high risk group in the community.
